Coinbase Expands Tokenized Stock Offerings on Base with Six New Equities
Coinbase has expanded its tokenized stock offerings on Base by adding six new equities to its initial four-stock lineup. The latest additions include Amazon, Microsoft, Strategy, SanDisk, SpaceX, and Tesla, which can now be accessed through the Ethereum layer-2 network.
The tokenized stocks use Base's B20 standard and represent beneficial interests in shares held through regulated custody. Each token is a beneficial claim on the corresponding equity rather than a synthetic instrument that only follows its price.
Token Terminal recorded $227.7 million in DEX volume for Coinbase-issued stock tokens over 30 days, with daily activity exceeding $33 million at its peak. The growth of tokenized-stock sector was already increasing before the new additions, with monthly transfers climbing 415% to $29.5 billion and the value of tokenized equities distributed onchain standing near $2.54 billion.
U.S. persons remain unable to access the products under Coinbase's current Regulation S offering, which is exempt from registration under the Securities Act of 1933 or state securities laws. However, eligible users can keep Coinbase's stock tokens in self-custodial wallets and trade them outside regular Nasdaq or New York Stock Exchange hours.
