Coinbase Expands Tokenized Stocks on Base to Ten
Coinbase has added six new tokenized stocks to its Layer-2 network Base. These include Amazon, Tesla, Microsoft, SpaceX, SanDisk, and Strategy.
The addition brings the total number of available equities on Base to ten, following the initial rollout that included Apple, Nvidia, Meta, and Alphabet.
The new assets are issued in digital format, enabling users to hold them within self-custodial wallets. This is a significant development as it allows private companies like SpaceX to be listed on decentralized platforms.
Base's underlying technical framework relies on a direct collateral model, where every token minted is backed 1:1 by underlying shares held in custody by regulated broker Alpaca.
