Coinbase Expands Trading Options with Weekday US Stock Services

Coinbase has launched weekday US stock trading around the clock for its UK customers. This service, which operates under separate brokerage, settlement, and investor-protection rules, allows users to trade US-listed stocks through a Coinbase Capital Markets brokerage account while using the same application as their crypto holdings.

The main appeal of this feature is convenience: existing Coinbase customers can add US equities without opening and funding an unrelated investment application. However, not every stock is available throughout extended hours, and orders placed outside regular sessions may face lower liquidity and wider spreads.

Coinbase permits limit orders only for whole shares, while fractional-order availability can vary by security and session. For example, a user buying a fraction cannot set a limit price for that fractional amount through the standard limit-order flow.
