Coinbase Expands UK Derivatives Offerings for Professional Investors
Coinbase is expanding its offerings in the UK by launching a derivatives suite for professional investors. The new products, which are part of the company's 'Everything Exchange' strategy, will include perpetuals with up to 50x leverage and dated futures with up to 20x leverage.
The launch follows Coinbase's recent MiFID license, which allows it to offer derivatives contracts in the UK. The company says that access is restricted to investors who meet eligibility requirements and are classified as professional clients.
Coinbase has also been emphasizing revenue sources beyond bitcoin spot trading. In its second-quarter report, the company says 88% of net revenue comes from sources other than bitcoin spot trading, while its share of global crypto trading volume reaches a record 10.3%, up from 9.1% in the first quarter.
