Coinbase Expands UK Platform with Thousands of New US Stocks

Coinbase has expanded its platform in the UK by adding nearly 4,000 US stocks for eligible users. This move enables direct 24/5 access to these stocks without commission fees, allowing customers to fund purchases instantly with either GBP or USDC balances.

The launch of this feature is part of Coinbase's 'Everything Exchange' strategy, which aims to combine traditional finance and digital assets within one platform. With the introduction of fractional shares from £1, users can now buy and sell US equities alongside their crypto and cash balances.

However, some limitations apply, including restricted access to out-of-hours trading and foreign exchange movements. Additionally, Apex Clearing holds the shares and manages settlement within the United States, ensuring equity trading remains separate from Coinbase's digital asset custody operations.
