Coinbase Expands UK Services, Offering Access to Thousands of US Equities
Coinbase has expanded its services in the UK, offering British customers access to approximately 4,000 US equities. The platform allows for 24/5 trading, commission-free transactions, and fractional ownership options starting at £1. Users can fund their stock transactions using British pounds or USDC stablecoin.
The company's equity, COIN, experienced a 0.86% decline following the announcement. This expansion is part of Coinbase's Everything Exchange growth initiative, which aims to merge conventional banking with blockchain-based assets.
Coinbase has partnered with Apex to handle American stock execution and custody operations. The exchange prioritized standard stock certificates over tokenized securities for faster deployment, but may consider launching tokenized equity products in the future.
