Coinbase Files Regulatory Notices for Single-Stock Perpetual Futures
Coinbase has made significant progress in its efforts to offer single-stock perpetual futures to US traders. The company filed SEC notice registrations for its derivatives exchange and broker on September 1, marking a crucial step towards expanding its derivatives business in the US.
According to the filings, Coinbase Derivatives, LLC and Coinbase Financial Markets, Inc. have registered with the SEC for activities involving security futures. This move is part of Coinbase's broader expansion into regulated US markets.
The single-stock perpetual futures product allows traders to gain price exposure without owning the underlying stock, providing a more flexible trading experience. Coinbase has been pushing for clearer US rules covering perpetual derivatives and has recommended that equity perpetual derivatives be treated as security futures in its comments to the SEC and CFTC.
