Coinbase Gets Green Light for UAE Tokenization Platform
Coinbase has received permission from Abu Dhabi's Financial Services Regulatory Authority to establish an international tokenization platform in the UAE. This approval enables Coinbase to facilitate transactions and maintain custody of blockchain-based securities representing actual equity shares.
Investors holding these tokens will receive complete ownership benefits, including dividend payments and voting privileges, without needing traditional brokerage services. The company has established a separate derivatives operation in Dubai, creating dual regulated UAE presences beyond American jurisdiction.
Coinbase noted that the Abu Dhabi tokenization platform will operate in parallel with its derivatives business in Dubai, providing two separate and regulated UAE operations. This configuration supports the organization's global expansion, allowing it to expand capital market access to broader audiences internationally.
