Coinbase Global Stock Underperforms Market as Analysts Weigh In
Coinbase Global, Inc., a leading cryptocurrency exchange and financial services platform, has seen its stock underperform the broader market over the past year. The company's shares have declined 61.3% in this time frame, while the S&P 500 Index ($SPX) has rallied nearly 17.7%. In contrast, the First Trust SkyBridge Crypto Industry and Digital Economy ETF (CRPT) has only lost about 52.5% over the past year.
The exchange's underperformance is also evident in its quarterly results. Coinbase Global reported its Q2 earnings on July 30, with revenue of $1.2 billion surpassing analyst estimates of $1.3 billion but an adjusted loss per share of $1.36 significantly missing expectations of $0.23.
Wall Street analysts are mixed in their views on the company's stock. Among the 34 analysts covering Coinbase Global, there is a consensus 'Moderate Buy' rating, with 19 'Strong Buy' ratings and four 'Strong Sell' ratings. The mean price target of $207.47 represents a 41.9% premium to the current price levels.
