Coinbase Leadership Shake-Up: Four Executives Exit or Shift Roles Amid Expansion Plans
Coinbase is undergoing its biggest leadership shakeup in years as four senior executives depart or shift roles. The changes come as the exchange expands into stocks and prediction markets.
Chief People Officer Lawrence Brock will leave the company to take on an advisory position from September 2 to November 30, 2026. He'll receive a lump-sum payment of $182,500 within 10 business days after the end of his term. Any unvested equity awards he holds will be forfeited upon completion of his advisory role.
Greg Tusar, co-head of Coinbase Institutional, is moving to a policy-focused position. Paul Grewal, the company's Chief Legal Officer, had earlier announced plans to leave and become an adviser through October, while Jesse Pollak stepped back from leading the Base app after his strategy of creator coins didn't pan out.
The shake-up reflects Coinbase's efforts to transition from a crypto-only trading platform into what it calls an 'everything exchange'. The company is filling vacant leadership roles with internal promotions and has been cutting costs, including laying off about 14% of its staff in May. The changes come as the broader crypto market cools.
