Coinbase Leadership Shakeup: Four Executives Depart or Shift Roles Amid Expansion

Share

Coinbase is undergoing significant leadership changes as it expands into stocks and prediction markets. Four senior executives have either left or shifted roles in just over two weeks, including Chief People Officer Lawrence Brock.

Brock will move to an advisory role from September 2 to November 30, 2026, receiving a lump-sum payment of $182,500 upon completion of the term. He will forfeit any unvested equity awards when the advisory term ends.

Greg Tusar, co-head of Coinbase Institutional, is shifting to a policy-focused role. Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal had announced plans to leave for a startup but would remain as an adviser through October. Jesse Pollak has stepped back from leading the Base app after his strategy did not meet expectations.

Coinbase's leadership shakeup comes as it transitions from a crypto-only trading platform into what it calls an 'everything exchange.' The company is cutting costs, including laying off 14% of its staff in May. Meanwhile, Coinbase is filling vacant leadership roles with promotions from within the organization.
