Coinbase Logs Third Straight Quarterly Loss Amid Cryptocurrency Market Downturn
Crypto exchange Coinbase has reported its third consecutive quarterly loss due to lower trading volumes. The prolonged downturn in cryptocurrency markets, which is causing investors to shy away from riskier assets, has curbed trading activity.
The company's transaction revenue dropped 21% to $599 million during the quarter, down from $764 million a year earlier. This decline in revenue contributed significantly to Coinbase's net loss of $359.5 million for the quarter ended June 30.
According to Third Bridge analyst Jacob Zuller, 'This deep and sluggish crypto winter has continued to put pressure on Coinbase.' He also noted that regulatory clarity is not happening fast enough, which could impact the company's performance in the future.
