Coinbase Misses Revenue Estimates Amid Crypto Price Slump

Coinbase's second-quarter results were disappointing, with revenue falling short of expectations. The company reported $1.22 billion in revenue, below the consensus estimate of $1.29 billion.

The weakness was largely due to lower cryptocurrency prices, which weighed on transaction fees and trading volumes. Bitcoin fell 14% during Q2, while ether lost about 25%. This reduced volatility across spot markets and impacted institutional trading.

Analysts had anticipated a slowdown in the industry after April and May's weak activity, but June saw modest improvement. Despite this, several Wall Street firms have lowered estimates ahead of earnings and trimmed EBITDA forecasts due to the impact of lower crypto prices.
