Coinbase Offers Regulated Crypto Futures in Canada
Coinbase has expanded its Canadian offering by launching regulated derivatives contracts for eligible investors. This move gives sophisticated traders new ways to speculate on market movements and manage portfolio risk.
The company claims it is the first major crypto-native platform to offer direct access to crypto futures in Canada. The products are available through Coinbase Financial Markets, a registered futures commission merchant regulated by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission and a member of the National Futures Association.
At launch, Coinbase is offering Canadian traders access to 23 perpetual and dated futures tied to digital assets including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana. The lineup also includes five commodity futures covering assets such as gold, silver, and oil, as well as index futures tied to products including the Coinbase 50 Index.
Coinbase says the contracts have been designed with lower upfront capital requirements, including nano-sized contracts and leverage of up to 10 times. For a limited time, the company is charging eligible Canadian traders 0.02 percent per trade plus $0.11 per contract.
