Coinbase has expanded its payment services to allow businesses to accept USDC payments from autonomous AI agents. The move is part of Coinbase's efforts to support the growing use of software-generated traffic on its platform.

The company announced that Coinbase Business users can now receive, track, and reconcile agent payments in USDC, with native x402 support handling internet-based pay-per-use transactions. Businesses can also earn rewards on eligible idle USDC balances, with a current annual reward rate of 3.35% in the U.S.

Coinbase has also added new features to its Coinbase for Agents platform, including real-time market views and conditional actions controlled by user-defined trading guardrails. The company's Developer Platform introduced a new CDP x402 SDK that lets developers add agent payments to their APIs and web services with minimal setup.
