Coinbase Overhauls Leadership as It Expands into Stocks and Prediction Markets
Coinbase is undergoing significant changes at the top as it expands into new assets and markets. The exchange has announced that Lawrence Brock, its chief people officer, will be leaving his position on August 17. He will remain with the company until September 1 to ensure a smooth transition, after which he will be succeeded by Dominique Baillet.
Baillet is expected to take over Brock's responsibilities in hiring, retention, and workplace operations, while Brock will continue to provide advice to the company from September 2 through November 30. He will receive three months' worth of his current base salary as part of an agreement signed on July 23.
These changes are part of a broader effort by Coinbase to streamline its operations and reduce management layers. The exchange had previously announced plans to eliminate around 700 positions, or 14% of its workforce, citing volatile crypto markets and productivity gains from artificial intelligence.
