Coinbase Partners with Moov to Bring Stablecoin Services to Community Banks
Coinbase has partnered with Moov to provide community banks and credit unions with access to stablecoin services through their existing relationships with businesses.
The partnership, announced on September 10, allows Moov to integrate Coinbase's stablecoin payments infrastructure into its platform for financial institutions. This enables banks to offer stablecoins to customers without having to set up their own cryptocurrency stacks.
The arrangement gives three parties a role in the payment process: the bank or credit union, which owns the primary customer interaction; Moov, which supplies the payments-platform connection; and Coinbase, which provides crypto custody and movement components. This division of labor allows customers to experience one bank-facing product even though the underlying service spans multiple providers.
The partnership has the potential to expand stablecoin adoption, as Moov has a customer base of over 1,000 community banks and credit unions. However, the economics, data access, compliance responsibilities, and liability terms remain unresolved until the companies disclose their terms.
