Coinbase Partnership Unlocks New Path to Homeownership with Cryptocurrency Mortgage

Share

Better Mortgage has partnered with Coinbase to offer its customers a unique mortgage product that utilizes cryptocurrency as collateral.

The product, which became available on August 12, allows borrowers to pledge their digital assets without selling them, opening up a new path to homeownership for those who hold substantial cryptocurrency.

Better Mortgage and Coinbase announced the expanded offer, which provides lender credit equal to 1% of the mortgage amount, up to $10,000, for Coinbase One members. This incentive is available for standard mortgages, home equity lines of credit, and refinances, effectively turning Coinbase into a customer-acquisition channel for Better's full home-financing menu.

The partnership aims to expand access to homeownership by meeting borrowers where they are, particularly in today's high-interest rate environment. According to Ziggy Jonsson, chief technology officer at Better Mortgage, 'This partnership has always been about expanding access to homeownership by meeting borrowers where they are.'
