Coinbase Pursues Stock Perpetuals for U.S. Markets
Coinbase is seeking U.S. approval to offer perpetual contracts tied to individual stocks, expanding beyond crypto and potentially bringing 24/7 leveraged trading to traditional markets.
The company has filed notices with the SEC for its derivatives exchange and broker, and plans to work with both regulators to introduce more financial products in the U.S.
The stock perpetuals would allow U.S. traders to bet on individual stocks with leverage 24/7, even when the regular stock market is closed.
Coinbase already offers these products internationally, but bringing them to the U.S. requires meeting the requirements of both the SEC and CFTC.
