Coinbase Puts US Stocks on Blockchain
Coinbase has launched tokenized versions of US stocks on its Base blockchain, allowing eligible investors outside the US to trade shares onchain.
The initial offering includes Apple (no ticker mentioned), Nvidia, Meta, and Alphabet. Each token is backed one-to-one by the corresponding stock held by regulated broker and custodian Alpaca, according to Coinbase.
Coinbase issues the tokens under the Abu Dhabi Global Market's regulatory framework and plans to add more stocks as demand grows.
