Coinbase Revenue Misses Q2 Forecasts Amid Broader Crypto Downturn
Coinbase's Q2 revenue fell short of expectations, causing its shares to drop 5% in after-hours trading.
The company's transaction revenue decreased to $599 million, below the estimated $628 million. Additionally, subscription and services revenue came in at $555 million, missing targets.
This decline is not unique to Coinbase; the entire crypto market has been experiencing a downturn. Bitcoin plummeted by about 14% during Q2, while Ethereum dropped roughly 25%. As a result, trading volumes on Coinbase's platform have decreased by over 20%, according to CFO Alesia Haas.
In an effort to stabilize operations, CEO Brian Armstrong emphasized the company's focus on stablecoins, prediction markets, and its Base network.
