Coinbase Reverts Back to Original Wallet Name After Year-Long Experiment
Coinbase is reviving its original wallet name after nearly two years of testing an expanded app called Base. The company announced on X that it would be returning to Coinbase Wallet, dropping the broader app's identity.
The change comes as the Base App experiment appears to have lost momentum. During the test period, the product attempted to combine social features, messaging, payments, and trading into a single platform.
Coinbase is refocusing its wallet on trading, offering access to various markets, including tokenized stocks, meme coins, perpetual contracts, and prediction markets. The wallet remains self-custodial, allowing users to retain control of their assets.
