Coinbase Reverts Base App Name Change Back to Coinbase Wallet
Coinbase is reversing its name change for the Base App, renaming it back to Coinbase Wallet. The move comes just over a year after Coinbase rebranded the app as part of a social experiment.
The company explained that the Base App had evolved into a broader, multichain trading platform, making it sensible to bring back the Coinbase Wallet name while retaining the best parts of the Base App.
Coinbase Wallet will act as a 'test kitchen' for products and assets that may not be available through Coinbase's centralized exchange, according to Ryan Kass, Head of Coinbase Wallet Product.
The wallet supports perpetual futures powered by Hyperliquid, long-tail assets, and aims to add new chains as they launch. Prediction markets and tokenized stocks are also supported.
