Coinbase Rolls Out High-Performance Matching Engine for Deribit
Coinbase has rolled out a new high-performance matching engine for Deribit, its digital assets exchange platform. The new engine is designed to process over 100,000 orders per second with sub-millisecond matching latency.
The rollout brings Deribit onto the same core execution infrastructure as Coinbase International Exchange. This upgrade is intended to support institutional derivatives markets and improve liquidity in the crypto derivatives space.
According to Coinbase, the new engine includes a built-in speed bump on selected instruments, which may briefly delay aggressive orders and give liquidity providers more time to respond during fast markets. This could potentially lead to tighter spreads and deeper resting sizes over time.
