Coinbase has secured a financial services license in Abu Dhabi, marking its most significant step towards building an open and accessible global financial system.

The company has established a tokenization center in Abu Dhabi, receiving approval from the Financial Services Regulatory Authority.

This allows Coinbase to facilitate investment transactions and provide custodial services for the launch of tokenized securities, forming the foundation for establishing an international tokenization hub in Abu Dhabi.

According to Brett Tejpaul, Co-Head of Institutional Business at Coinbase, 'The Abu Dhabi Global Market released one of the world’s first regulatory frameworks for virtual assets in 2018. This reflects a genuine institutional commitment to fostering innovation-driven regulation.'

Coinbase is building two ambitious global businesses outside the U.S.: a tokenized securities and on-chain capital markets hub, and a global derivatives center.
