Coinbase Securities Lawsuit Moves Forward After Judge Rejects Dismissal Bid

Share

A federal judge in New Jersey has denied Coinbase's latest attempt to dismiss a securities lawsuit. The court rejected the company's motion to dismiss, allowing the investors' claims to proceed.

The case concerns alleged misstatements and omissions about Coinbase's business from April 14, 2021, through June 5, 2023. Investors claim that Coinbase and its executives misrepresented or concealed material aspects of the company's business.

The court found that the Third Amended Complaint adequately alleged that other bankruptcy risk statements and regulatory statements were materially misleading. The plaintiffs also sufficiently pleaded scienter against Coinbase and the relevant executive defendants for those statements.
