Coinbase Seeks Approval for US Single-Stock Perpetual Contracts
Coinbase has filed notice registrations with the US Securities and Exchange Commission for its derivatives exchange and broker, as it moves to bring single-stock perpetual contracts to the United States.
The company made the announcement on September 3, stating that the filings are a step towards an onshore product, not a launch. Coinbase intends to collaborate with both the SEC and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
The proposed contracts would allow exposure tied to individual equities through derivative contracts rather than direct ownership of underlying shares. However, no specific stocks have been listed for inclusion in the contracts.
