Coinbase Seeks SEC Approval for Equity Perpetuals
Coinbase has filed registration documents with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to offer equity perpetuals, a derivative contract type that allows traders to hold positions indefinitely without needing to roll over.
The product will require approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission next, according to Chief Policy Officer Faryar Shirzad, who made the announcement on X.
'Equity perps have proven demand internationally, and we're excited at the prospect of a regulated pathway for U.S. investors,' Shirzad said.
