Coinbase Seeks SEC Approval for Equity Perpetuals
Coinbase has filed registration documents with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to offer equity perpetuals, according to its Chief Policy Officer Faryar Shirzad.
Perpetuals, also known as 'perps', are derivative contracts that track underlying assets without expiring, allowing traders to hold positions indefinitely.
The product will require approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission next, Shirzad noted on social media platform X.
Coinbase received CFTC approval earlier this year alongside prediction markets platform Kalshi to offer perpetual crypto futures.
