Coinbase Seeks SEC Approval for Equity Perpetuals in US Market
Coinbase has filed a notice registration form with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to list equity perpetuals on its platform.
The move, announced by Chief Policy Officer Faryar Shirzad on X, would bring a regulated pathway for U.S. investors into the market.
Perpetual contracts, or 'perps,' are futures contracts with no expiration date, allowing traders to bet on price movements without owning the asset.
Coinbase already launched perpetual futures in March, but those were limited to users outside the U.S. and covered a set of specific stocks including Apple, Microsoft, NVIDIA, and Amazon.
