Coinbase Seeks SEC Approval to Bring Single-Stock Perpetuals to US Markets
Coinbase has made the first step towards offering single-stock perpetuals in the US by filing notice registrations with the SEC.
The move would expand Coinbase's equity-derivatives lineup from thematic stock indexes to individual stocks, building on its existing offerings of perpetual-style futures tracking artificial intelligence, China, defense, and top 100 tech stocks.
Chief Policy Officer Faryar Shirzad said the SEC filings are a first step, with CFTC product approval remaining the next hurdle for bringing equity perpetuals onshore.
The proposed single-stock exposure is currently available to eligible customers outside the US, introduced in March, covering stocks such as Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, Nvidia, Meta, and Tesla.
