Coinbase Seeks Senate Action on Clarity Act After FOP Endorsement
Coinbase's chief legal officer Paul Grewal is urging the US Senate to pass the Clarity Act, which aims to establish a clearer regulatory framework for the cryptocurrency market in the country.
The company's call comes after the National Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) expressed support for the latest version of the bill. In a letter sent to Senate Banking Committee Chairman Tim Scott and Senator Elizabeth Warren, FOP national president Patrick Yoes stated that the updated Clarity Act strikes a balance between promoting innovation in the digital assets sector and allowing law enforcement authorities to combat fraud and illicit financing activities.
Grewal highlighted the FOP's support, asking whether senators also back the revised bill or plan to oppose it. The company's goal is clear: to see the Clarity Act become a reality, which would provide much-needed clarity for companies like Coinbase operating in the US market.
