Coinbase Seeks US Approval for Equity Perpetuals Expansion
Coinbase has filed registration documents with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to launch equity perpetuals, expanding its push into derivatives.
The product will track the price of an underlying asset without having an expiration date, allowing traders to maintain positions indefinitely.
Coinbase Chief Policy Officer Faryar Shirzad disclosed the filing in a social media post. The exchange targets growing demand for perpetuals, which have already attracted international investors.
The move comes as competition intensifies in the derivatives market, with other exchanges and trading platforms seeking to capture growing demand for alternative products tied to digital assets and equities.
