Coinbase Sees Clarity Act Passage as Regulatory Turning Point
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong is optimistic about the passage of the Clarity Act in the U.S. Senate, which he believes will provide clarity on regulatory authority over digital assets.
The bill has already passed the House and is expected to be voted on by the Senate on September 15th, with a required 60 votes for approval.
Armstrong says that negotiations are still underway but appear 'very close to a solution', addressing ethics provisions and other outstanding issues.
The Clarity Act aims to establish clearer lines of regulatory authority between the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
Coinbase has been a prominent supporter of the legislation, which could unlock institutional capital and support products like tokenized equities in the United States.
