Coinbase Sees Stablecoin Market Explode 10-Fold by 2030
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong is predicting a significant expansion of stablecoin usage by 2030. According to him, the $300 billion stablecoin market could grow tenfold in that timeframe as businesses increasingly turn to digital assets for cross-border payments.
Stablecoins like Tether and USDC are already being used by commercial firms to process international transactions more quickly and at lower costs than traditional bank channels. Coinbase is working directly with banks, fintech providers, and corporate clients to integrate digital dollar settlements into existing trade rails.
The company's revenue has diversified in recent quarters, with subscription and service products making up a larger share of its income. A joint agreement with Circle Internet Group (CRCL), the issuer of USDC, has been a major contributor to this trend. Coinbase collects over 50% of the financial returns from USDC assets.
Armstrong expressed confidence that regulatory frameworks for the industry can be established through cooperation between federal agencies and Congress, even if market structure bills stall in the legislative process.
