Coinbase Sees Stablecoin Payments as Key Growth Driver

Share

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong is optimistic about the growth potential of stablecoin payments. He believes that this market, currently valued at $300 billion, will increase tenfold by the end of the decade.

Armstrong stated that payment volume can be a 'very interesting business' for Coinbase and that the company is working with banks, FinTechs, and other businesses to move more payment activity into stablecoins. This effort aligns with Coinbase's goal of diversifying beyond relying on crypto trading volumes for revenue.

Coinbase has been focusing on an 'Everything Exchange' model where users can trade a range of blockchain-based products. The company is already seeing adoption in various areas, including prediction markets, perpetual futures, and stock trading, with more products like stock options on the roadmap.
