Coinbase Shares Plummet as Crypto Market Suffers Downturn
Coinbase shares declined by 5.6% in premarket trading on Friday after posting its third consecutive quarterly loss.
The losses come as the cryptocurrency market faces a downturn, with Bitcoin falling nearly 27% in value so far this year. Shares of Coinbase have matched that decline with a nearly 28% drop.
Analysts attribute the quarterly loss to the crypto cycle, but believe the company's business fundamentals remain strong and it will be at the center of any potential recovery.
Coinbase has diversified its revenue stream by moving away from spot Bitcoin trading and focusing on stablecoins and retail derivatives. The company recently introduced perpetual crypto futures in partnership with Kalshi.
