Coinbase Soars on Regulatory Optimism
Coinbase stock surged 7.5% in morning trading as optimism around crypto regulation swept through markets.
The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, a U.S. Senate bill aimed at establishing clearer token classifications and reducing regulatory uncertainty for crypto businesses, is set to have a critical procedural vote on September 15.
Senate Banking Committee Chair Tim Scott believes the bill has a strong chance of passing in September, and a White House crypto adviser described ongoing negotiations as 'a setup where a comprehensive agreement is achievable.'
Analysts at Compass Point and Goldman Sachs also contributed to the bullish narrative, with Compass Point upgrading Coinbase from Sell to Neutral and raising its price target to $177, while Goldman Sachs raised its price target on the stock to $219.
