Coinbase Stock Dips 5% After Missing Revenue Targets
Coinbase's stock, COIN, dropped by 5% in after-market hours on Thursday, July 30th, following a revenue miss in Q2. The exchange reported total revenue of $1.220B, falling short of the estimated $1.284B.
This marks a 14% decrease from Q1 and a 19% drop compared to last year's numbers. Despite this, Coinbase still managed to record some strengths, including gains in global market share for spot and derivative trading volumes.
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong attributed the weak performance to 'tough market conditions' in Q2. However, he emphasized that the company continued to execute on its vision of becoming an 'everything exchange', diversifying revenue beyond trading.
