Coinbase posted record-breaking results in its second-quarter earnings report, but its stock price took an unexpected hit in after-hours trading. The exchange captured a 10.3% share of global crypto trading volume in Q2 2026, marking the third consecutive quarter of market share gains.

The company's prediction markets business saw a staggering 106% growth in contracts and revenue over the prior quarter, crossing $100 million in annualized revenue for the first time. This success can be attributed to the launch of its binaries products late in the quarter, which tripled daily traders and quadrupled daily revenue compared to May 2026 figures.

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong noted that hitting a third consecutive all-time high in trading volume market share demonstrates the exchange's broader strategy can perform across different market conditions. The company now operates across trading, payments, and lending, and is no longer solely dependent on Bitcoin's price fluctuations.
