Coinbase Stock Soars 30% as Bitcoin Rally and White House Meeting Ignite Crypto Equities
Coinbase Global stock surged by 30% in just two days, ending its slide from earlier this year.
The rally was fueled by a combination of factors: Bitcoin's sudden price increase to $68,000 for the first time since March, and the liquidation of over $1 billion in leveraged positions across crypto markets. This triggered a massive short squeeze, further pushing up Coinbase's stock price.
The White House meeting on August 19-20, which brought together President Trump, regulatory officials, and executives from companies including Coinbase, also contributed to the rally. The conversation centered around the potential Clarity Act, legislation that could clarify how digital assets are classified and regulated in the US.
Coinbase's stock was trading near its 52-week low before the rally, after posting a disappointing Q2 earnings report with revenue of $1.2 billion and a net loss of $359 million. The company's record market share of 10.3% also failed to impress investors.
