Coinbase Stock Surges as Crypto Market Rebounds, $200 Breakout in Sight
Coinbase stock surged 8.2% to $186.49 on August 20, propelled by the broader crypto market's impressive rally.
The price jump puts Coinbase back in breakout territory, with $200 now within reach. The company's CEO, Brian Armstrong, recently stated that crypto spot trading could be 'on the cusp' of its next bull market, citing traditional strong months following Bitcoin halving cycles and regulatory progress.
Armstrong noted that October, November, and December are historically strong months for Bitcoin, with only about 12% of previous bear phases lasting longer than three months. The setup is bigger this time due to Coinbase's reduced dependence on Bitcoin spot trading, with the company reporting $1.2 billion in Q2 2026 net revenue, including $555.1 million from subscription and services revenue.
A daily close above $200 would confirm a major psychological and technical barrier has been reclaimed, opening up potential targets around $220 and $235-$240.
