Coinbase Stumbles for Third Quarter in Row Amid Crypto Market Slump
Coinbase Global posted its third consecutive quarterly loss as cryptocurrency markets experienced a prolonged downturn. The exchange's trading volumes declined, causing transaction revenue to drop 21% to $599 million during the April-to-June quarter.
This decline is attributed to investors shunning riskier assets amid uncertainty over U.S. interest rates, geopolitical tensions, and persistent outflows from crypto investment products.
Third Bridge analyst Jacob Zuller stated that regulatory clarity is not happening quickly enough, which has put pressure on Coinbase. He also noted that the company is behind in developing tokenized equities and perpetual futures to offset spot crypto trading volumes.
