Coinbase Suffers $430M Net Loss Amid Slowing Crypto Market
Coinbase, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges in the world, has released its Q2 earnings report. The company reported a net loss of $430 million for the quarter, citing lower trading activity as the main reason.
The loss is significantly higher than the expected net income of $31.5 million, which is a decrease of 93% from the same period last year. Trading revenue declined by 27% to $616 million, while transaction volume fell 39% to $221 billion.
Coinbase's results are in line with industry trends, as the overall crypto market has seen a significant slowdown in trading activity this quarter. The company's shares have been affected by the decline, falling 4% in after-hours trading following the release of the earnings report.
