Coinbase Surges as Regulators Signal Growing Confidence in Crypto Industry

Share

Coinbase stock surged on Tuesday as investors reacted positively to the prospect of clearer regulatory guidelines for the digital asset industry. The company's shares rose by 7.5% in morning trading, outperforming a weak market where both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite indexes fell.

The optimism stems from the upcoming U.S. Senate procedural vote on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, scheduled for September 15. If passed, the bill would establish clearer token classifications and reduce regulatory uncertainty for crypto businesses.

Senate Banking Committee Chair Tim Scott stated that the bill has a strong chance of passing in September, citing growing confidence among lawmakers. This sentiment was echoed by a White House crypto adviser who described the negotiations as a setup where a comprehensive agreement is achievable.

Analysts at Compass Point and Goldman Sachs also weighed in on Coinbase, with both firms upgrading their price targets for the stock. Compass Point raised its target from $130 to $177, while Goldman Sachs boosted its target to $219, maintaining its Buy rating.
