Coinbase Suspends Eight Trading Pairs Amid Consolidation Efforts
Coinbase is suspending eight trading pairs on its platform, but this does not mean that the underlying tokens are being removed. The suspension affects ANKR-EUR, BAT-BTC, BAT-ETH, COMP-BTC, FIL-BTC, GRT-BTC, JASMY-USDT, and YFI-BTC. This means that customers who fund in euros, bitcoin, ether, or USDT may face additional trades, spreads, or currency exposure when they move through dollars.
The company stated that the suspensions are intended to consolidate liquidity and improve market health. The affected trading pairs use various quote assets such as bitcoin, ether, euros, or Tether (USDT). This decision is narrower than a token delisting, but it may have some practical implications for customers who fund in non-dollar markets.
Coinbase's transaction revenue was $599.2 million and subscription-and-services revenue was $555.1 million for the quarter ended June 30. The company said its share of crypto trading volume reached 10.3%. This move is likely to have a limited impact on Coinbase's overall business, but it will be interesting to see how customers adapt to this change.
