Coinbase Taps Deal-Making Expert to Fuel Expansion into Continuous Markets
Coinbase has appointed Anthony Armstrong to its board of directors as part of its strategy to become an 'everything exchange' that offers services beyond just buying and selling cryptocurrencies.
Armstrong, who previously worked as CFO for xAI and X Corp., brings with him experience in deal-making on Wall Street and knowledge of working with regulatory bodies. He will also take a seat on the Audit and Compliance Committee.
Coinbase is looking to expand its services beyond traditional 24-hour markets, which it believes will become increasingly important as competition shifts from trading volume to control over technologies behind continuous market rails.
The company has already rolled out U.S. stock and ETF trading, prediction markets, and outlined plans for tokenized assets, pre-IPO perpetual futures, and an SEC-registered AI investment adviser.
