Coinbase Teams with Moov for Stablecoin Infrastructure at Community Banks
Coinbase and Moov are teaming up to bring stablecoin infrastructure to over 1,000 community banks and credit unions in the US. The partnership combines Coinbase's regulated digital asset infrastructure with Moov's payments platform to offer stablecoin payment acceptance, settlement, and real-time funding.
The new infrastructure will support various use cases such as consumer stablecoin payments, merchant settlement, and payouts. It will also provide businesses and merchants access to Coinbase custodial accounts.
This move comes as some of the largest US banks are experimenting with stablecoin infrastructure. For instance, U.S. Bank recently completed a live cross-border payment using its proprietary USBDC stablecoin on the Stellar blockchain. Additionally, 21 financial institutions, including Bank of America and Goldman Sachs, announced plans to form a company to issue stablecoins in the first half of 2027.
