Coinbase Tokenized Stock Rallies on Regulatory Momentum
Coinbase's (COIN) tokenized stock price has recovered to $180.61 after a brutal Q2 earnings miss, which saw revenue plummet by 18.5% year-over-year and EPS fall into the red.
The SEC's first dedicated token rule proposal in mid-August and the White House crypto summit, where Coinbase sat alongside SEC Chairman Paul Atkins and CFTC Chairman Mike Selig, have contributed to a regulatory premium embedded in COIN's price. CEO Brian Armstrong has been lobbying for the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which he believes will prevent another FTX-style collapse and boost U.S. competitiveness.
Coinbase has recorded its 14th consecutive quarter of positive adjusted EBITDA and market share in crypto trading hit a third consecutive all-time high at 10.3%, despite declining volume. The Base Layer 2 network is handling the majority of AI-driven stablecoin transactions, with annualized transfer volume reaching $32 trillion.
The technicals are sending a conflicted signal, with the MACD histogram flat and momentum stalling rather than accelerating. The RSI is still within the neutral zone, but the Stochastic reading suggests the short-term wave is getting overbought relative to recent action.
