Coinbase Unleashes Regulated Crypto Futures in Canada with Up to 10x Leverage
Coinbase has launched 23 crypto futures in Canada, allowing eligible traders to access regulated trading options on the platform. The contracts include Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Solana (SOL) futures, offering maximum leverage of up to 10x.
The new offering is provided by Coinbase Financial Markets (CFM), a futures commission merchant registered with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) of the United States. This move introduces a new layer of functionality for advanced traders in Canada who wish to hedge bets or make leveraged trades on the crypto market.
Coinbase is also launching its day trading products, starting at 0.02% per trade plus $0.11 per contract, for a limited time. The company cautions that losses could be greater than the amount invested in leveraged futures trading and that products may be more suitable for experienced market participants.
This development is part of Coinbase's efforts to create a unified single trading platform for both spot crypto and complex derivatives trading. With derivatives still being a significant component of crypto trading globally, making the move to Canada is an important step from Coinbase.
